Upasani Super Specialty Hospital, located in Mulund (West), Mumbai, is designed by Shree Architects, led by Architect Kshititi Nagarkar. The project brings a thoughtful infusion of nature-inspired visual art into key spaces — the Waiting Areas, Common Passages, and Patient Rooms — creating a calming environment within this high-function medical facility.
In the Patient Rooms, sunrise compositions are used to introduce a sense of hope and renewal. These artworks gently uplift the mood of patients, subtly evoking the promise of a new beginning — an important emotional anchor during recovery.
The Common Areas and Waiting Spaces are adorned with vibrant floral compositions, offering moments of brightness and positivity amidst the otherwise clinical setting. These visuals soften the atmosphere, bringing warmth and vitality into transitional zones.
Hospitals often carry a visual monotony, dominated by sterile and subdued palettes. Here, the nature theme is intentionally employed to soothe and relax, helping patients and visitors momentarily disconnect from anxiety and tension. The integration of art becomes more than just decoration — it plays a therapeutic role in enhancing overall well-being.
This project illustrates how visual art can contribute to healthcare spaces not just aesthetically, but emotionally, turning functionality into a more humane and healing experience.
