At Nanegaon, just off the Nashik–Pune Highway, a bungalow sits beside a vast grape farm, its setting offering an immediate connection with the landscape around it. Designed by Within Without, Architect Shailesh Devi, the house belongs to a family involved in grape farming and reflects their affinity for both nature and art.

The visual art for the house was conceived by Samruddha Mogal Visual Arts Consultancy, with the entire bungalow—entrance, living spaces, staircase and bedrooms—becoming a canvas for a series of nature-inspired compositions. Rather than functioning as isolated decorative pieces, the artworks respond to the character of the house and its surroundings, extending the experience of the landscape indoors.

At the entrance lobby, a composition of a refreshing sunrise welcomes visitors. The image establishes the mood of the house even before one enters its principal living spaces. In the living room, compositions of grape trees, rendered in sepia tones on canvas, draw from the landscape immediately outside. The imagery creates a quiet visual connection between the cultivated fields surrounding the bungalow and the spaces within it.

The L-shaped staircase, with its double-height volume, forms one of the most striking spaces in the house. Here, three vibrant compositions of lilies are placed at different landings, transforming what could have been a purely transitional space into an experience in itself. As one moves upwards, the artworks reveal themselves successively, bringing colour and rhythm to the vertical volume of the staircase.

The bedrooms continue the theme of nature through an assortment of compositions arranged around the idea of continuity. Each space has its own visual character, yet the artworks belong to the same larger vocabulary. Their vibrant colours introduce a sense of joy and movement, creating what can be described as a kind of visual music across the house.

The art, therefore, does more than adorn the bungalow. It strengthens its relationship with its setting. The grape farms, the changing light, the colours of flowers and the rhythms of the natural world find their echoes on the walls. In doing so, the house becomes a place where nature is experienced not only through its windows and surroundings, but also through the art woven into its everyday spaces.
